Travel trips on getting to Paros island as normal flights to the island are
tight on availability and times.
I thought I would mention that sometimes a connecting flight from Athens then to
Naxos or Mykonos Islands, then a short one hour boat trip to Paros is another
travel option...I would highly recommend traveling to Mykonos even if there was
no afternoon one hour boat trip to Paros as its beautiful - and sure beats
Athens!!! There are a lot more regular flights to Mykonos as its very
popular!! I think the boat would would go mornings and afternoons!!... you might
be able to match it up successfully !!!( note: also unless it has changed in the
last 2 years.... there is NO boat from Mykonos to Paros on Wednesdays ).......
the other sure but slower option is from Athens port to Paros by ferry.......
normal ferry is 5.5 hours... jet cat is about 2.5 hours........ there are lots
of regular daily ferries that travel to Paros on their way to the other islands
like Santorini (its like a bus service and you jump off where you like).... the
day service I recommend as its enjoyable and sunny .
There are lots of ferry boats leaving at different times by different companies
... it can be a little hard to track down time tables but a good travel agent
will work it out!!! Allow up to 1.5 hours to get out of the airport into Athens,
through Athens and down to the port.
warm summer regards, Gregory 2. "the winds" arrive mid summer - usually
the first week in August and by October have usually settled down ...."the
winds" are usually welcomed by most people as Greece is generally considered hot
without them!! (its 30 to 40 degrees with no humidity or insects.....)
"the winds" are only considered a problem if you're in an exposed
location.....~VILLA DE CHILLOUT~ is located in a quiet, protected agricultural
area set back from beach front... 40 metres back !... nestled amongst the olive
trees and grape vines..... I have been at the beginning of August when "the
winds" were blowing and the villa is a welcome sheltered spot to return to at
the end of each day .....
Even when "the winds" are blowing, select one of the many and varied
beaches that are protected from them ...... there is a selection of at least 8
special beaches that are all different. Its good having a change of beach each
day (or wind shift) in case you get bored with the same beach !!!..... Paros
Island is known in Greece and much loved by Athenians for having the best sandy
beaches in the Aegean sea..... as well as the most authentic continuous working
fishing village - Naousa !!...... as well as its less commercial more provincial
atmosphere than the more popular foreign tourist islands.
Also please checkout my "recommendation list " on the website and enjoy!!!
